Kuro Snare Mute

$65.00

The ‘Kuro Snare Mute’ was inspired by drummers who use a wallet on the snare drum to reduce unwanted overtones. The concept was to produce a minimally designed leather mute, made with the very best materials and to last like a great wallet for many years, rather than disposable overtone controls.

After testing and crafting many iterations for sound quality, a discovery of Oak bark tanned leather by J&FJ Bakers (UK), was the perfect selection - it’s one of the world’s finest leathers with incredible tensile strength and delivers a great weighted sound and muted highs. Sound control is dense, fat and solid.

The bridle leather there is tanned in the same traditional way for 600 years using Oak bark and water. Using all natural, locally, and sustainably sourced materials each piece of leather takes over a year to produce and many hours of labour intensive work.

  • weighted to keep it resting on the drum head

  • controlled and fat snare sound

  • saddle stitched

  • burnished edges

  • English Oak bark leather

  • sustainably sourced and carbon neutrally made leather

  • 100% made by hand
